Memorial correspondence signed by President Harry Truman

This memorial, signed by President Harry Truman, was mounted in a 13.5×15.5-inch frame on my grandmother’s wall—next to her front door—for decades. It now hangs on my wall. It’s a tribute to my Uncle Frank “Babe” Mauro, killed near Novara, Italy, four days before V-E Day.

    1. Nice of you to say, Suzanne. Alas, as you note, I have slowed down considerably now that I’ve finished transcribing all Babe’s letters. At some point, I will find another vein to mine.
